  Let’s be realistic, if this network has lasted for 50 or even 100 years, the previous regime in Russia must have somehow involved.

    So their control files on this subject probably go way, way back in time. Maybe even to pre-World War I. This is not to say, however, that the concern over the topic by the conservative bloc lead by the current president is not genuine.
