I wonder how that music actually sounded, and what kind of unmediated Affekt it had ? Not the old ‘original instrument’ argument, but unmediated by artificial electro-magnetism in the environment, ie, electricity. Was the quality of the music utterly different to what we have to suffer these days? I can imagine situations where afficionados may gather in the future under huge Faraday cages to listen to “clean” music…
