A rash of “suspicious packages” – lots of parties including criminal extortionists etc. might be joining in. On the other hand, since most of the media just simply lies, we don’t really know if these events have actually happened… the news is in the news itself and not any actual packages…

I know it’s possible he truly believes what he said. Maybe he has devoted his energies to stopping the threat of pseudo science. Maybe he’s just a “good liberal” with the ugly habit of value signaling. (This is no virtue.)
Just because he’s a NASA employee, doesn’t mean he’s got his wits about him necessarily…-

From the great Noel Coward the 1943 song “Don’t Let’s Be Beastly to the Germans”. While reflecting the concerns of that time, it seems to foresee the current EU and Brexit mess that is at least partially due to German persistence in enacting certain types of policies.
