Mr Salvini is now in Moscow, the first representative of the new Italian government on mission there, and tomorrow (when the US-Russia summit takes place in Finland) will discuss security and economic cooperation and the end of the sanctions.

This will sound strange, because I have certainly been sympathetic to European countries that are trying to defend their borders and culture, but I also worry about ugly backlashes too. One thing has been a part of our culture and that is to try to help the poor and defenseless.
The idea is to stop human trafficking at the place of origin, currently mainly Africa.
I know… and that too is sad… Africa is still being used in all this nasty business…
Anyway your sentiments do you credit, and the apparently “hard line rhetoric” is not just what a lot of Italians want to hear but also, or perhaps mainly a way of sending a message to the various powerful parties running this new form of slavery.
