Hospitals (in the U.S. anyway) are notorious for doing as many procedures, and billing for as many things, as they possibly can. ESPECIALLY now. The nonsensical lockdowns and all the cancelled tests and surgeries were a big cash hit to hospitals’ bottom line. So they’re out to scrounge cash wherever they can get it. And I’m sure there are…[Read more]

Heard the story of Prof. Bret Weinstein and Evergreen State College? It’s an eye-opener. To quote him (he’s not exactly right-wing politically either): “This isn’t about free speech, and this is only tangentially about college campuses. This is about a breakdown in the basic logic of civilization, and it’s spreading. College campuses may be the f…[Read more]

Critical social justice theory at work. The “logic”: disparate outcomes can only be explained by racism; so, to combat racism, adjust the outcomes. I see homeschooling as a growth industry…

Whatever it is, it’s happening all over the world. Politicians national and local “singing from the same hymn sheet,” as it were, to an astonishing degree. Just at different speeds in different places.

It can be instructive to see certain individuals’ comment history. Just a thought.

When I see the relative success of things like this, I keep wondering: how long before the folks in charge just start blocking or shutting down websites, not just censoring posts or accounts on social media platforms? We need to resist that when it comes (I’m convinced it will, in one form or another).

“Table 3 shows the types of health conditions and contributing causes mentioned in conjunction with deaths involving coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). For 6% of the deaths, COVID-19 was the only cause mentioned. For deaths with conditions or causes in addition to COVID-19, on average, there were 2.6 additional conditions or causes per…[Read more]

Digital ID in Ontario next year? “Premier Doug Ford and Peter Bethlenfalvy, chair of the government’s newly-established ‘Future State Modernization Committee,’ announced what they’re calling the ‘Digital Identity program’ . . . as part of a sweeping action plan called Ontario Onwards: Ontario’s COVID-19 Action Plan for a People-Focused…[Read more]

If I had the funds for most of your excellent suggestions, I’d spend them on a night at a real, live opera somewhere. Well, I would have before the “New Normal” at any rate.

    • My suggestion to visit an audiophile retailer for the sonic pleasures they can offer and do so for free, is one that I have practised over the decades. Even as I love celestial observatories, I know I cannot pay for one of my own. Hence long clear nights under the ocean of stars serve me well. Naked eye astronomy. Life’s what you make it.

For anyone more up-to-date than I: How do readers like feedly and NetNewsWire differ from subscribing to RSS feeds via an email client like, say, Mozilla’s Thunderbird? I’m asking from the perspective of a PC user.

Orchestra does a really nice job here too.
Heard Maria Callas do this aria? Also beautiful, though with the sound quality of older recordings.

    • La Divina, indeed. On high grade vinyl, played on a system of highest fidelity. Because of the astronomical prices of such audio technology, one may have to book a special visit to a reputable dealer to sample the unique sonic experience. A less costly compromise is vinyl listened to with quality headphones. I heartily recommend a visit or two to…[Read more]

Don’t you know Rockefailure was a philanthropist?! Like Baal G is. How nice of them to create the problem and offer their insect-protein, lab-grown-meat solution!

Came across that report awhile back. I can’t bring myself to read it.

    Yep, that too.

Also to eliminate the few remaining stragglers who would really resist totalitarian technocratic control of the planet; to suppress those pesky individual rights (cuz “we’re all in this together”–even though we’re not all in Baal G’s private jet together); and to wash away what’s left of the middle class, on which representative…[Read more]

Just looked at the gofundme page, and I’m on board with the idea. Not sure it’s going to make a huge difference to the election this late in the game. But a lawsuit against censorship–yes, absolutely. Wish I had the $$ to donate to more of these worthy initiatives.

Ever been to New Orleans? I have–the nice parts–years before Katrina, and Ronin’s anecdotes don’t surprise me in the least. Drug trafficking/addiction and crime, both petty and violent, were already there; I’m sure the natural disaster just made them worse.

Well, except for the 0.1% who want to rule over whoever is left. That 0.1% is overwhelmingly white and mostly male. Ain’t it a coincidence there’s a smear campaign in the Western world against whites and males? Way to deflect attention.
