The wrap ups are always a shining example of interdisciplinary analysis in geopolitics, culture, and economics. You can’t buy this kind of analysis.

This chant is a hymn chanted during Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts. Traditionally, in the Orthodox Church, during Lent an evening service known as Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts that includes Vespers and administration of Holy Communion. This service is typically held on Wednesdays or Fridays depending on the perish.…[Read more]

    • Hi Gabe. Thanks for this post! There are several Orthodox churches in the Toledo, OH metro area where I am near to. During Great Lent the parishioners all go to each other’s churches for the Wednesday evening for these Lenten services. It is a great way for Orthodox Christians to meet each other. NOT THIS YEAR…because of COVID-19. I can’t…[Read more]

      • Too bad you all aren’t in TX. As long as people agree to “social distancing”, Governor Abbott recognizes the large Christian population here and is allowing churches to be open.

Thanks for the link Scarmoge. I’ve always wanted to write a science fiction series since I was a kid. When I do I will use an ancient style that employs allegories and symbolism. Think of Homer’s the Illiad or the book of Metamorphosis by the Roman poet Ovid.

Good idea. For the members that are interested we could do this with other disciplines and a member could take the liberty to organize something like for a certain discipline. Then members could decide which projects they would like to participate in depending on their expertise and interest.

Again I am not saying that I am totally opposed to news articles. However, I think we need to focus more on research and the culture. @josephhFarrell @matthewlewist

By the way I’m glad this post was successful. Yesterday I tried posting this and I ran into a technical glitch that I described in my last post.

Over the last several years I have noticed that many of the posts in this forum are news articles. Although some of these articles can give hints in the pattern of behavior of the technocrats, these articles can sometimes become a distraction from conducting serious research or engaging in creative activity. Over the…[Read more]

    • Given these tumultuous times I have appreciated the posting of news from the extraordinarily ‘diverse’ and discerning folks that are attracted to Giza. Other than a bit of an overdose of info about covid 19, I think we’re fine.

    • Good point, posting music or book links for example helps “raise the sights” to a broader dimension.

      • This is an ideal time for creative initiatives, in whatever sphere. Such work can have unexpected and favourable consequences.

        • What about this: putting down our own notes on the “Topological Metaphor” (at home and offline), each person will have a different starting point and thus a different contribution. Shall we give it, say, six months?

I’m not sure what happened there. I’ll just try posting it again tomorrow and see what happens.

I wonder when California will roll out a social credit system that would be disastrous for their liberal government.

That’s an interesting idea. I think the Dark Journalist should make short summary videos to explain some of the topics he covers.

I found an insightful video on ancient Byzantine philosophy. This is the first source that I have found that analyses the ideas in Byzantine philosophy. The following scholars did a significant amount of research into this subject Dumbarton Oats, John Meyendorff, and John Romaninde. Here is a link to the video.…[Read more]

The You Tube channel called “Orthodox Church” covers a great deal of news about the Orthodox Church. Also, the channel posts statements and interviews by Orthodox Christian Patriarchs and videos of Orthodox chants. A Patriarch in the Orthodox Church is title of the primate of the autocephephalous (autonomous) Orthodox Churches.…[Read more]

I think the next step that we take is going to be different for everyone. For some people it may just mean making small changes such as buying organic food locally or banking with a community instead of a large bank such as JP Morgan Chase. Others may decide to get more material published on these issues and do research the way Fits and Farrell…[Read more]
