Weather update: It’s snowing and they’re still saying there’s a chance of rolling blackouts, so again, if I don’t show up (or show up late) for Friday’s vidchat, you’ll know why. Although, on the positive side, they’re saying snow quits Wednesday and by Friday hopefully some warmer weather.
-
Stay safe and well, Dr Farrell. At least you and Shiloh have each other to keep warm in extremis. If my recent experience is anything to go by, you’ll be enjoying summer weather by Friday and back under snow by this time next week! Blessings.
-
I sure hope that forecast is accurate. Warmth wishes to you and Shiloh!
-
If you invoke the Spirit of Global Warming, it will appear in the form of Greta, melting the snowdrifts with her magic wand, like Gandalf 🙂
-
ROF… now that made me laugh so hard my sides hurt. Thanks for the morning cheer!
-
… of course it could be Greta Van Susteren in which case I would assume, given her “intelligence” combined with her Scientology teaching, she has obtained complete control over MEST (matter, energy, space and time) and would be able to clear up your recent snow unpleasantness. It is no coincidence that she works for Gray Television.

-
Meanwhile in the southern hemisphere, we’re having the coolest summer we’ve had for a LONG time. Once again I have to observe cooler temperatures come with bluer skies and less chemtrails. Greta hasn’t made it to Australia yet, maybe that’s what’s in her magic wand?
-
its true – here in NZ i noticed a much cooler summer as well.
-
Yep it’s been a strange summer indeed, never seen anything like it in OZ

Car battery still dead, more snow on the way, and they’re threatening rolling power blackouts, so folks, if that should happen to me on vidchat day and I don’t show up, you’ll know why.
-
Bummer won’t be able to keep warm in the car. My power has been off over four hours and I live in an all electric home. Dug out my down comforter that hasn’t been used in years. 25 degrees outside.
-
How awful… Hang in there!! I hope who-/whatever is messing with the weather stops it, for heaven’s sake!
-
Hope you have a generator doc.
-
Fort Worth reporting 1Ëš Tuesday morning. Only short periods of electrical power since yesterday. Fortunately we have gas to cook with. Shows me how much I take “modern conveniences” for granted and importance of simple preparation. We’ve gotten spoiled in Texas with mild winters last couple of decades. Prayers going out to all who are affected.

Thanks to everyone for a really interesting vidchat today. Here’s some nice light and frothy Mendelssohn to go along with the light and frothy subjects we discussed today for your Friday evening pleasure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRTA94uLrR0

Mendelssohn is perhaps the most underrated of all underrated composers. Having equalled Beethoven in his Op 13 and Op 14 String Quartets, he then made it his business to try to equal J S Bach. He didn’t quite succeed, but he sometimes came close.
What do you think of Schubert’s D.952?

It is clear to me that the Reagan administration assessed the threat of sudden and dramatic climate change (eg, pole reversal) as real and that earnest preparations started then. If you look at where top-ranking military officers choose to live in retirement, you will discern a pattern. I forget the details, but they retire a very long way…

And it (the state) certainly seems to be going to a great deal of trouble to preserve a great many lies. Thanks for posting that quotation.-
Speaking of Germany, it seems that the Goebbels 2.0 approach may well be short-lived (good for Germans and for all of us). The recent exposure by Die Welt of gov’t commissioning lying statistics to support the current “invisible enemy” meme is similar to the NY Times denouncing Doktor Fausti. Something that has yet to occur in the USSA.

… In response to Dr. Farrell …The quote just seemed (sadly) so on point at this time.
In response to Dana – Many years ago I worked in a small independent bookstore. In the store we had an entire wall, roughly 30 ft. long (6 bookcases each case being 5 ft. wide by 7 ft. tall with each containing about 200 volumes [some stacked on the…

I don’t call it the stupor bowl for nothing…-
Good morning Dr. Farrell,
The stupor belongs to all the bowl•head game junkies. That Koolaide punch bowl, has been frying one too many pineal glands, on a variety of fronts for far too long. We should rightfully call this last year, with all its halfbrain time out waves, the “StupRo” bowl . . . -
For years I have enjoyed the Stupor Bowl game day for traffic free scenic drives and other uncrowned outside activities.

“He is the father, we are the children; whoever does not own to this, is a scoundrel.” WA Mozart, on CPE Bach. Here’s the final offering of the night Wq 6, played(as it should be), on a medium-large harpsichord with 16′ choirs: 1st and 3rd movements(third movement is the link below the first movement video…[Read more]

Thank you for sharing these works. As I listen to more and more of them, my appreciation grows (I will say that my preference is for JS vs. CPE – lol). Do you prefer CPE? and if so why?

I like them both equally, but for very different reasons.

Thank you for your response. I have a new question – what are your “different reasons”?
-
Dr. Farrell, I have moved this (noted below) question to the Fireside Chat.
“what are your “different reasons”?”

These performances are not available on vinyl. But I do have them. I’m a hard copy guy. I also have the orchestral scores.-
Hello and good morning again Dr. Farrell ,
I imagine that reading the orchestral score for you would be literally hearing the music, just as one with the ability to read simple text would be able to hear the words. When you state “hard copy” would that mean reel to reel, 8 track tape, cassette tape or some other recording medium ? Thank you…

Someone emailed me asking what the bumper music was for the old dialogues. It’s this (and don’t forget to check out the 1st movement of this one… it has an unblievable development section.) Anyway, it’s from the Harpsichord concerto in F Major, Wq12, III https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S07ahzAPXpA

Good morning Dr. Farrell,
I am curious to know if you have all these wonderful classical pieces on vinyl and if you listen to them through a vacuum tube amplifier.

One of my favorite movements, from JS Bach’s Triple Concerto (though most people think this is a work by someone else): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kf5XQLO76uo

Good morning Dr. Farrell,
Thank you once again, watching this piece visually scroll along is an encouragement for one to learn a beautiful universal language, I wonder on the average how long it would take .
-
I’m awestruck by composers’ and conductors’ ability to keep so many lines of music, from all those different instruments, in their mind at the same time, “hearing” them all simultaneously while writing or conducting the music. What a gift!

It definitely is not one dimensional music.

That seems VERY odd given all the vilification of his brother.-
Exactly. And indicates yet again the strategic significance of family connections, a factor that the official narrative will ignore, even as such links are used tactically to vilify current adversaries….

It means the military is control of a “secondary government” outside the parameters of the corporation. The military is obliged to the Constitution. The corporation is not.

While we’re on the subject of Charles-Marie Widor, when I was about 12 or 13, when his works began to be performed more often, I bought a recording on the old Nonesuch label of his fifth organ symphony (one of his “masterworks” along with the 4th, 6th, and 9th), and immediately fell in love with the grandeur of his composing. The movement that…[Read more]
