Unbelievable ! I thought hurricanes develop in the tropical regions not in Ireland.

Doing OK civilization is coming back slowly. Got water and electricity back but all the cell towers were dropped by the hurricane. Internet connection is unstable. Even the fiber optic land lInes are out.

I have to give a doff of the hat to the Pentecostals in the State of Missouri. Two days man ! Two days before Hurricane Maria hit, they came here rented a warehouse and flilled it with food and water. They were helping doing rescues just hours after the hurricane.

After the electrical grid was reduced to pre-historic times the Governor said let’s talk. I have several concerns with this, one of them is that a monopoly will be created. The other one is the infrastructure and stability of the system. We got industries and pharmaceutical companies that require a lot of electricity.

Puerto Rico got destroyed it needs to be rebuild from scratch. I don’t think the United States has the money for reconstruction.
Long term decisions have to be made. These category 5 hurricanes are the new reality. Construction has to be done differently and the electrical and communication grid has to go underground. We can’t have buildings…[Read more]

Folks forget about the news, trust the folks living in Puerto Rico. We do have an humanitarian crisis. People are behaving, there are 5 hour lines to get gas. Citizens understand the situation, any other place in the world you would have people punching each other, not happening here.

Things are happening through conscious intentions of people. Specially with the pilots and people on the ground. There are amazing things happening.

This was a good spot for capturing Hurricane Maria on video. The person lives in an apartment complex.
Is like a huge water pressure machine. No matter what you do water will start coming into your property. The pressure of the winds mixed with water will make it through the windows.

The army can build a city in the middle of a desert. They are here to reestablish vital communications and power to key areas. Plus is a great exercise to these troops. Wish I were a drill Sargent during this hurricane. Put this people opening roads to help people.

I think that after this disaster things are going to change politically. Not only we are citizens but family with American folks in the states. My home is practically a hotel for my friends and family in Utah. They travel here during the winters. And they are all a bunch of Republicans and they vote. We are upset because we got Marines, Army and National Guard stationed in PR. They didn’t move the equipment soon enough to rescue people. The National Guard did move and did rescues with the Governor.

I got new information on Hurricane Maria Crisis in Puerto Rico. Folks FEMA is out, this is a military operation from now on.
Brigadier General Jefrey Buchanan will be in charge of logistics, reestablishment of communications and power in key locations.

US should have some kind of civillian rescue and emergency unit, for this kind of events. The army is killing machine, not a helping machine. It´s not very good for rescue missions.

President Trump will visit us on tuesday. We all are in total darkness but the main hospital is operational. People are tough, optimistic and helping one another. My neighbour from Texas came in and helped me lift my backyard roof from the ground.

A lot of the land and property in Ireland is still owned by some old, wealthy British noble families. When I visited last year, vast tracts of Dublin were pointed out as being owned by Lord so and so. Also saw many of the large estates and castles, which are still owned by another Lord so and so. War of the Roses all over again?
So it’s raining in Ireland? I haven’t looked at weather statistics, for what they’re worth, but I think there is a lot of “weather channel” hype here. Wind, rain and waves in Ireland and on the Atlantic coastlines of Britain and Europe in general is nothing new…
Of course in those parts there are significant tidal levels, which combined with high winds can have serious effects on the coast.
Northern Ireland wasn’t that badly affected. At least, not where I am in the north west on the coast. We seem to have been spared. I’m very thankful for that.
