Reading Like a Roman
Vergilius Vaticanus and the Puzzle of Ancient Book Culture
-
Kind of puts modern “culture” to shame… The Roman Empire left us Virgil, inter multa alia. I wonder what the American Empire will be remembered for in centuries to come.
-
… novels that, in order to read them, require the moving of one’s lips.
-
Or, perhaps to say it differently, novels that have to be slowly savored…
-
Hear! Hear!

-
I certainly hope it’s remembered for something other than its comic books — or whatever make-believe picture books for children are called these days!

Jeffrey Kripal on how to think about the UFO phenomenon
“Such encounters, for example, can be of a deeply spiritual nature, by which I do not mean “good” or “nice.” People experience awe, fear, uncanniness and absolute terror; the Harvard psychiatrist John Mack rightly called this “ontological shock.” They experience, either within the event i…[Read more]

Thanks for posting, I am glad he thinks he knows what we should think about the UFO narrative. Good for him, may he remain calm and attract many to his conference. Seems his career and livelihood are dependent upon the phenomenon.

Pandemics Are Never What They Seem
“There has long been a concern that the AIDS virus did not simply mutate but was transferred by a gain-of-function naturally from monkeys to humans. William Hamilton, the British biologist, became concerned that AIDS emerged from the trials of a polio vaccine in Africa. Hamilton, the evolutionary biologist, was…[Read more]

Code-Breaking the Craft: It Takes Two

Is Russia Trying to Win Over White Americans?
“Lavrov also mocked the political correctness of American culture. “Hollywood changes its rules now, too, so that everything reflects the diversity of modern society, which is likewise a form of censorship, which stifles art and imposes various artificial restrictions and demands,” he argued. I saw…[Read more]

Probably more like Russia is pointing out the hypocrisy in American society. That’s a lot of what RT does (a job the U.S. media should be doing). I think it’s partly payback for all the years of moral posturing by the West during the Cold War. Also, it wouldn’t surprise me if the penchant to find and point out contradictions were a legacy of…

RFK’s False-Flag Assassination, and the Forgotten Palestinian Patsy
That is why I have argued before — and I repeat in my new book — that the ultimate key to the JFK whodunit is in RFK’s assassination, which has a very clear, unmistakable Israeli signature. RFK’s assassination is a masterwork of false flag operation, designed by a supremely…[Read more]

Lawrence of Arabia – Review
“This is his Phaeton-like fall. Faisal prophesied it earlier in the film when he said that for Lawrence, mercy is a passion. For Faisal it is merely good policy. “You may judge which is more reliable.” Clearly, Faisal’s motives were more reliable in the end.
Despite the massacre, Lawrence beats Allenby to Damas…[Read more]

I found it interesting that at the time of his death in a motorcycle accident Lawrence was serving in the army as a private, having left his past and reenlisting as such. Not relevant to your post (excellent, as usual), but nevertheless that was my bubble-up thought. Don’t know why. Anyhow, thanks for the post.

The full implications of the truly evil alliance between the Saud family and the “Western” oligarchs have yet to be adequately understood. Perhaps there are clues in Guiley’s book “The Vengeful Djinn”….

Dana, did you read that book?

Yes. Rather mixed content but in my view the most insightful work to date on that specific subject.
