To narrow down possible places to live, I reviewed the CV1984 policies of 60-plus counties in one state, plus looked up recent voting results and party affiliation percentages of each county. The kind of thing I’d never have thought to do before. But as you suggest, local and state politics and personnel are becoming more important than ever.

I think the literature describes the China variant as authoritarian capitalism. It appears to be spreading.

I think “industrial capitalism” describes China better than “industrial socialism.” It’s complicated… China is something like one-party, totalitarian, state-monopoly industrial capitalism. I’d say the USSA is something like one-party, semi-totalitarian private-monopoly financial capitalism. To me, socialist is more like Venezuela, Cuba, or…

Yes, I keep checking for that book. I’ve purchased her two other books. But, it’s this one that really gets into what “they” are going for.
Once she gets it out; I’ll bet I hear about it here first.
