Don’t sweat it Dr Farrell. I for one am thrilled that you actually have boxes of components of the organ actually delivered! Actual tangible evidence of the imminent delivery of that fabled organ. Soon the battle station will be fully operational…

As painful as another “Great Western Schism” would be, they’d better do something, for the mess Bergoglio is making of their Church is far worse.

Much to Bergoglio’s frustration, I’m sure. I hope all decent Catholics find the means and strength to depose him.

    • That would be a bit of a mess, with one “emeritus pontiff” already living in the Vatican. Anyway, for much of the Middle Ages there were rival popes, with the loosing ones be branded as “anti-popes”….

Been a fan of this whole concerto since I was a teenager. I believe it was the third movement that first drew me in.

Roman catholic archbishop Vigano’s accusations against the Pope re. Cardinal McCarrick is a huge story that has been unfolding for over 2 weeks now, and seems to be ignored by mainstream news–I’ve only become aware of it yesterday upon catching up with my Traditionalist parents. Anyone else following this story?

    • Yeah … I think Kahlypso had a couple of relevant posts on this a couple of days ago and kindled some warm reactions.

    • This story will not go away.

Say, I wonder if Shiloh will sing along with Joseph’s playing, as dogs are wont to do… A friend’s pet boxer softly howls out a harmony every time he plays harmonica or sings. That would be the sweetest thing ever!

It should go without saying that I’m not expecting anything of the intellectual and scholarly calibre of a Farrell or Levenda, but sometimes one craves a little break into some lighter, more “journalistic” fare. The trouble is finding “journalists” whose basic integrity you can trust. With researchers like Farrell, the transparency of their…[Read more]

I have always enjoyed Nick Redfern’s shorter writings and interviews online, and he’s always seemed to be a sincere, stand-up fellow and researcher. But for whatever reason I have never read any of his books. Considering his impressive publication history, which ones would you guys recommend as his strongest material?

    • I found some of his books, well, a little “lightweight” with respect to authors like Farrell and Dolan.

    • Try his Pyramids and the Pentagon, or also Final Events…

Outstanding. Why oh why did lutes fall out of fashion (at least in comparison with the guitar)…

His hand technique looks very unusual to me. It seems almost as if he isn’t even using his thumbs. I understand in the early Baroque and before that thumbs weren’t used when playing keyboard, but wasn’t it precisely J.S. and C.P.E. Bach who pioneered and codified the use of all ten digits on keys? (At least to me, the handful of JSB pieces I…[Read more]

    • That’s one theory… another is that they seldom used heels (given some of the pedal boards were short), but as far as I recall, most of the pedals boards on the organs (and pedal harpsichords) that JS, WF, and CPE Bach actually played were long like the modern ones. The plain fact of the matter is, there’s no set way (technically speaking) of…[Read more]

Wow! I was not expecting those arrangements. Very well done! Great composition really does translate into all sorts of arrangement.

I was wondering if there would ever be any progress on it soon, but I hate to keep bringing up such a sore subject…

Who could possibly forget, with psychos and dingbats like John Bolton and Nikki Haley as his hires? One thing I’ve learned is that Trump is utterly unpredictable, but regardless his crass behavior and language and his inscrutable strategy, the picture in hindsight looks better than some previous presidents—so far…

    • True Shamus. When he became President of the U.S. I was very relieved. Perhaps he is keeping these people close to keep a watch on them. I don’t think Haley has much power other than being a spitfire with a microphone. Trump has a method, and it’s almost perceptible in the whirlwind of his chaotic behaviour, but it’s there. It’s a fine thread…[Read more]

Lest anyone forgets the destruction that was wrought on Libya…

You know, while I had very low expectations of the current presidency, I have to concede that–despite a couple of anemic strikes on Syria–Trump hasn’t (yet) graduated to Destroyer of Countries. That’s…[Read more]

Been following him for a few years now. His dedication is astounding, and his earthquake prediction technique is very impressive.

Love this performance. You don’t often hear voices like this in popular music (nor thoughtful and clever songwriting either). And the second song is about Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn!

What a strange coincidence: my parents attended mass this morning where they celebrated with the Haydn Missa in Angustiis (Mass in Troubled Times).

To be sure, I’m not saying Trump is a peace-loving saviour. But with all the superficial and rather flimsy warmonger victories (hiring John Bolton, the anemic Syria strikes, et al.), the real long term victories appear to be going towards the pragmatists.

    • Remember, Trump tends to surround himself, in certain positions, with people with whom he does not always agree. Those people stay until they are no longer useful to Trump. Consider Tillerson at the State Dept. where he ‘cleaned-out’ some of the folks that were no longer welcome in Trump’s Administration, and eventually Tillerson was no longer needed.

One has to wonder, could this possibly have been a deliberate objective of Trump’s? Given the monumental establishment forces arrayed to stop any overt moves to make good on his promises for peaceful relations with Russia and a smaller military presence in the world, could his wildly unpredictable behaviors actually belie a kind of Byzantine…[Read more]

    • In say 2021, the Anglosphere oligarchs, as the balance between warmongers and pragmatists leans away from the former, we could see a “grand reconciliation” with Russia, with all the due theatrics (though the pragmatists, as long as they are just another emanation of the debt-creation system, will not in reality be very peace-loving either!).
