Dont mention it brother, it’s my pleasure to share it here with everyone. I figured that if anyone would appreciate this masterpiece, most all the people here at Giza surely would.
I can’t imagine how long it took someone to make a exact copy of this by hand, and all the painstaking detail involved. Ink stained fingertips, rounded shoulders and squinting eyes come to mind. Johannes Gutenberg didn’t invent the printing press for a little over another millennia, so the copy-machine of the day was hand transcription; just imagine. I believe it’s the oldest surviving copy of Virgil’s Aeneid along with the Georgics, but sadly i cant read any of it. Its just beautiful to look at, roman calligraphy in capitals coupled with all the stunning illustrations, it’s humbling that this manuscript has survived all those centuries. Looking through it before, i couldn’t help but imagine all the different people throughout history from the time of its creation, who physically leafed through it’s magnificence. I’d like to someway, somehow be one of the lucky ones someday.
You are very welcome
Yes the treasure trove of the Secret Vatican Archives, although i don’t know how secret it could be if it is publicly accessible. Nonetheless i am in awe of it just the same . . .
