What’s up with all of the “relaxing” music on YouTube? Has anybody else noticed this phenomenon? It started in the Spring of 2020. I dump my browser cache and history every time it closes so when I come in to YouTube, there are no cookies to tell them what I’ve looked at. I am therefore presented with the standard first-visit results.
On a typical day, the first default YouTube screen shows about 8 to 12 of these insanely long “relaxing” music videos. These videos just seemingly popped out of nowhere and every one of them is typically a minimum of 8 hours long and some I’ve seen go past 12 hours. Why didn’t we need this before the big C*V*D, but now we do? I don’t know about anybody else, but my suspicion meter isn’t just in the red, it’s pegged right at the end of the scale stop.
When there are streaming music services (and yes, I am subscribed to Spotify) where you can select your own music and never really run out of music, who is listening to 8+ hours of canned “relaxing” music on YouTube? My suspicious mind is thinking there are subliminals embedded in that “relaxing” music, though I have no proof of that and no leads to that possibility. It just seems all too convenient. Any thoughts from the Gizzers?

Maybe a corporate request for those working from home to keep them from playing on the internet instead of working while making it Easier to monitor their On-line activities.

A high-octane speculation: Maybe a non-pharmaceutical attempt to calm an anxious population living under CV1984 restrictions? In other words, an attempt at a soft means of social control.

Good questions, typically they do not contain detailed information on the compositions, orchestras etc. found on “musical” channels. Having said this, sharing Baroque music could help “educate” and “temper” the bots.
