Iran seems to have dropped fast off MSM. Just a few weeks ago we were on the verge of WWIII!

Except that they lumped all the deplorables into that category as well. Ha… ha. (Not) Those of us in fly-over country don’t particularly find the coasters very funny. (Envision something protecting your table for a glass of water, you coasters, you.)

  • Here we go again, we’re all gonna die by global pandemic. I know I’m gonna rush right out and get that experimental DNA altering vaccine patented by Gates and pushed by the CDC….NOT.

    • I’d rather step on a rusty nail.

    • Although I don’t wish for disaster of any kind since that would be rude, I find how pleasant it would seem to have a normal end of the world scenario caused simply by nature or even just an act of God. It seems we have run out of all of those unfortunately.

One of the truly disquieting sights (for me) is that of ladies fixing their makeup and instead of using an ordinary little mirror, use their phone screen picture as a mirror! Talk about facial recognition….

When I go by public transport it never ceases to amaze me to see how people use this space age communication tech to play games on their phones. I respect ladies who check up on recipes much more, at least that’s useful.

    • As Catherine often says, keep your “smart” phone turned on only when really necessary. Nowadays many people send voice messages so there is less need to keep it on to get calls. And for a slightly higher level of semi-privacy, when it is “off” keep it in a Faraday cage or bag. An old microwave over will do.

    • People like to cover their laptop cameras with tape, but not their phone cameras or mics. People are strange.

The Iranians have announced that it was their fault, a tragic error. I don’t know why but this still leaves me with nagging doubts….

  • I figure that some of you Gizars will have an explanation for this…

If I remember correctly (and that’s getting tougher) today is Dr. Farrell’s birthday. Best wishes for a great day, Joseph. I don’t get to hang out here enough but I am grateful for what you the Gizars create. You provide a mentally challenging environment for those of us attempting to discern the world around us. Thank you.

    • I guess the only comment I would make is that “Chemical Engineering” should probably have been Biochemical engineering. My brother has an undergrad in Chemical Engineering and worked for P&G to develop a way to make the blue chrystals not ruin your clothes. LOL. • In light of recent news in the middle east, I think that part two of the 4th quarter wrap up will a lot different to what Joseph and CAF “planned” to talk about. If this escalates into something everyone was dreading, then the world will suffer from this madness, and I think we all know who to blame.

    • Yup, I think this war will be extra bloody and long.

      • It will be difficult for U.S. air power to operate in Iranian airspace. Iran has a decent multilayer air-defence waiting for them. Also Iran has a lot of allies in the region, USA don’t have that luxury, Saudis are busy with the Houthi rebels and Israel has huge internal problems. Well… maybe Bojo will send their brand new Windows XP aircraft…[Read more]

    • As of 10:15pm EST, as long as the US doesn’t respond, a temporary pause in hostilities will be had. According to FM Zariff. The President will be briefing the nation in the morning. You can check out his last tweet @ around 2145hrs. Its pretty obnoxious.

One of the many interesting comments w/in the Saker post linked above:

The big problem is that the real response by Iran might not even matter.

My fear is that the US did chose the place to murder Soleimani very deliberately. To kill him in Baghdad could be part of a very sinister plan.
It is virtually guaranteed that this will spark outrage and…[Read more]

It may be a good idea to top your fuel tanks and cans off this morning. Iran may threaten to close the Strait of Hormuz. At the very least, markets are likely to reflect the tension. Declaring their portion of the Strait a “war zone” would have similar effects on the market. Insurance underwriters would be unlikely to insure cargo through the…[Read more]

This is NOT good folks. Actions have consequences and this one may carry a heavy burden. CAF recently tweeted that it appears that “impeachment is working”, I’m beginning to think she may be right. Seems TPTB are back to cooking a war.

    • Killing Soleimani was an extremely stupid move. Extremely stupid. Israel should deploy few extra Iron Dome batteries, as Hezbollah is first to respond.

    • The question I had when I was reading The Saker’s blog and other stories was the following: Why would Iran allow the supreme commander of their Quds forces to run around Baghdad, with little to no escort and which allows him to be monitored, tracked and then targeted for assassination or murder what ever flavor you want to call it? It makes no…[Read more]
