This article is seven years old but I believe pertinent to what’s happening right now. A small city in New Jersey which is desperately crime ridden and poor had it’s police department all but dismantled and replaced with high…[Read more]

    • Camden, NJ was hopeless in 1974 when I lived EVER so briefly in Filthidelfia. At that time, there was a radical Black group that was terrorizing Filthtown and in the mere moments I lived there, I could see why. The city of pretty much 3 storey buildings which trapped air movement had a population of Blacks for whom there were no jobs, no hope,…[Read more]

Doc, are you saying that Bach literally attempted to
” illustrate ” the scene of the Archangel through his music or is that a popular interpretation of the piece ?

    • No… I’m saying that IF one accepts Affektenlehre, and is fully cognizant of Bach’s deep commitment to Lutheran Christianity, that this will influence how one analyzes the score and performs the piece. Hence, this is my own interpretation. It would require me to argue that case from a careful walk through of the score. I can’t do that here, but…[Read more]

At the risk of sounding like an alarmist, I believe we are watching a full scale attempt at a revolution in the US. Well, there’s been a slow one happening for a long time, but the mask is off and ” they ” seem to be make a dash for it.

The ” rule by expert ” is evidently here. They can’t be voted out of office, now what ?

A can’t stop thinking about the pysop side to all this. Almost overnight maybe a third of the planet has become convinced that without drastic changes to our behavior, this planet will be practically uninhabitable. I would say the same thing has been attempted with climate change. A PR firm is creating the ” apocalypse ” . A strong delusion and…[Read more]

I’m not sure how this turned into me defending informants LOL. My larger point was having created such a dire financial situation, lots of people are going to be willing to do things they wouldn’t normally. They ripped a page out of the Stasi playbook.

You sound like a strong individual. Some are not. I think abandoning compassion is a mistake.

    • I agree that abandoning compassion is a tragic occurrence. And if a father is put in that position it would be an almost impossible position to face. But what sort of a man turns on his fellow man simply for the benefit of his singular circumstance? I was always taught that there is no greater act than to lay down your life for your friends, but…[Read more]

The idea of states or THE state paying people to spy on their fellow citizens is genius at the moment given the staggering unemployment numbers. People who have always been rat-like will surely jump on board but then there will be the starving father of 4 who will do anything for his family. How do you judge that guy ?

    • … the same as you would for a father of none or of 10.

    • Being a father is no justification for “whatever it takes” type thinking, at least, that is, in the context of your question. I’ll do “whatever it takes” to provide for my child, until “whatever it takes” turns me “sub-human”.

I just wanted to share an example of the results of current hospital policies. My wife and I have a niece who is suffering from Lupus and had to be hospitalized. She was/is in bad shape and has been in for to two weeks. Well, do to virus rules no one is allowed to see her and she’s going crazy. My wife spoke to her on the phone for thirty minutes…[Read more]

    • So sorry to hear that. Can you keep pushing to get her on a different ward? Maybe one where there is window so you could visit from outside? We’ve just done this recently with an elderly Aunt who we thought would slip away if she didn’t have contact. We kept pushing for it and it worked.

    • Hope Katie B suggestion works.
I work in an elderly home, same problem.
The no visit rule is barbaric amonst other awful rules.
      Wish you the best.
