Hi all.. I’m trying to .. rearrange things. in order to send a question to vidchat.. and I’ve ran into a little problem.. I need some GDS help plz..
Who the heck was Marduk?? Hang on.. hear me out. I’m fully aware of the Enûma Eliš, What I mean is.. Who was his father and who was his mother?
As I’m seeing it.. Marduk took power as Babylon rose. He’s said to be the son of EA… but I don’t see where this is said..other than.. in the Enûma Eliš.. which seems to have rewrote the history of ‘The Beginning’ in order to glorify and flatte Marduk… Possibly the first recorded enaction of a “Council of Nicae moment”……
I think that the easiest way to put it, is… I can’t consolidate the Atrahasis with the Enûma Eliš, because Marduk just deosnt exist in the Atrahasis..
It seems weird that Marduk did and does everything in the Enuma Elis but isnt even mentionned in the Atrahasis. I think that the Atrahasis MIGHT have been written before the EE.Marduk came into prominence around 1790 BCE, during Hammurabi’s reign.. And I personally beleive that the EE was written around this time…But I dont see any other source claiming he is Ea’s son, other than the EE which was written to glorify and deify Marduk..
The Epic of Gilgamesh mentions him maybe once…but definately puts Enlil and Enki at the head of the show.. Marduk is NOT Lord of everything and anything, he has not been called upon to kill Tiamat..But.. The EE states that TIAMAT gave birth to the Mušḫuššu (which, if Dr F has made it this far..) he’ll recognise as a sirrush, which Marduk made into his Symbol, which Hammurabi tiled onto his Ishtar Gate… seems strange that he would keep this Dragon of the World as his symbol…
Anyway.. The EE has Tiamat making Ea appear.. and Ea unable to kill TIAMAT, runs home crying for his son Marduk who just materialised out of thin air..
That’s my probleme.. I can’t see anythin else saying that Marduk is Eas son, other than , the story written by Marduk’s priests..

. Marduk seems to have originated from a local deity known as Asarluhi, a farmer’s god symbolized by the spade, known as a marru, which continued as part of his iconography. Marduk’s name, however, though linked to the marru, translates as ‘bull-calf,’ although he was commonly referred to simply as Bel (Lord).
I’m cross referencing az lot of info to try and get everyone’s name in there.. pretty much everyone frrom 3rd generation on was call Bel, Ba’al or Baal. Its like calling God God.. proper noun? 🙂 Thnx Baz – will look into Asarluhi.
Asarludu, Asarluhi, and Namshub.
As Namshub (shining), he is considered a protective deity, “the shining god that illuminates our path”. The Enuma Elish describes Asaruludu as “the light of the gods”. Another version states he is “the wielder of the flaming sword” and “ensures the most perfect safety”.
But..in Sumerian mythology, Kuara was considered the birthplace of the god Marduk (Asarluhi), Enki’s son. The cults of Marduk and Ninehama were centered in Kuara.[3
Son – MARU

Son of the Mound.
Marduk = Honorific??
Owing responsibility or fealty to the Moon ?
Not a chance in … Marduk would never have owed fealty to his cousin Nanna/Sin. . Marduk would have considered himself the rightful ruler of Earth.. if he HAD been the trueborn son of ENKI with NINHURSAG.. but his mother was supopsed to have been Damkina.. but that’s just what I can find in Sitichin’s work.. there is no collaboratory primary evidence.. … Im having difficulty finding the real parentage of Marduk..
