Is it bad form to pre-empt a Webinar ? A lot of people seem to be hanging out for a catch-all typology of Gnosticism to be revealed. But I wonder what will happen when Gnosticism has its feet held to the fire here ? Scriptural literature as we know it is blatantly unreliable, and suffers from a politicized syntactic version of restrained Epicurianism. So why should we believe that the so-called heresy of Gnosticism is merely a Christianized dimitude, a submission to crypto-structuralism ? After all, the structure of the Metaphor is in the Meaning, not in the superposition of topological anamnesis (retro-causality). For the record, I’m not a Christian, nor an atheist, nor an agnostic. Second century theological debates are just debates about linguistic calculus and scalar potential.

Bazzy ol’ boy , I nearly fell off me rocker , after your post about smart phones and new galaxy! I was reading the article which I posted below -in your comment section, on the Gal9 before I saw your post. Several things , it is from Dr. Shmeul Asher – author Of several books -The Soul Revolution and The Land of Meat and Honey. He was an early contributor to and guest on the :”Oh Joeseph!” Byte show of late , GeorgeAnn Hughes. Any way , I’ve been trying to switch carriers for my CO’s cell service. It’s a Biz account several lines 8 and several iPads etc. Anyhewww, the new carrier is insisting I tie it to individuals and not a business with our tax ID or EIN number. Total sh!te! It’s a biz account with current carrier. we just want to switch to this other pink colored group selling cell service based in Germany , ends in mobile(don’t want to advertise for them) but they won’t do it only personal ? E strano, my boy, motlo fric kining strano! Oh , and it gets paid from corp bank account automatically. They want something from individual they won’t recognize Corp.
During the last vidchat Dr. Farrell mentioned something about Gnosticism that caught my attention. He said that one of the key elements in Gnosticism is any dualistic system, that says that knowledge and practice of evil is necessary in order to know the good. This presents a problem in my mind, because the more I think about it, the more I see Gnosticism in the culture at large.
Think of the Motivational Speakers that all of the sudden are acting like a life coach guru, saying things that have a very Gnostic feel to it. Things like every negative is a positive. And they always start by doing some type of exercise asking questions like Who you are ? I am troubled by that question, because quiet frankly I DON’T KNOW, I am complex why should I tell them. I view these motivational speakers with high suspicion.
I agree that it is necessary to identify evil in order to overcome it. But to assert that Gnosticism requires the practice of evil in order to know good is ludicrous. Boethius concluded that everything is known, not according to itself, but according to the capacity of the knower. That is to say that the capacity for discrimination is itself an apophatic action, and not a mimetic imperative.
