Does my digital data comport an aspect of my Personhood ?
Maybe but maybe not. I was thinking a few months ago about how some tribal societies had been (and some still are) suspicious about having their photograph taken, the explanation given that it was something akin to having their soul taken. Then I thought about how here in the Middle East, it is frowned upon and in many cases illegal to take photos of other people.
What does the image signify? Some kind of power given away?
And now we have images of people being blasted all over the world as digital bits and bytes. Does this represent a splintering or a spreading? Very interesting questions.
