It’s ridiculous to think that knot-tyeing skills are sexually exclusive. And all these crypto-fascist bleatings about the “decline of masculinity” are just hollow rants about how an image of sexual dominance is no longer supported by a Yahwist pseudo-metaphor. Get over it.
Knot tying is a potent magical ritual and females already have an advantage in that department 🙂
Anyway this linguistic engineering might work a little with the English language but not with inflected languages where masculine and feminine (and in some languages neuter to!) nouns are part of the structure.
The attempt to abolish the term “boy” is patently grotesque – and“girls” will be next…
I think the English word “girl” comes from the German word “Kerl”, meaning a young ruffian. And I think there was a time when the term “girl” was applied to young boys. Who knows ?!
I don’t have a problem with Scouts for the two sexes together. Different matter when it comes to overnight stays though 😉
