actually, I like that it conjugates different phases of Baz; that is rather cool …
I’m more in the mood for this:
I may be a couple of years away from the big 6 0 but in my head I’m still in my teens
The problem with CPE is most folks are NOT aware that his output is in two tracks: “Gebrauchmusik”, i.e., “necessity music,” composed for popular tastes, and then the music which, by his own statement, he composed “for himself and in full freedom.” Among these are many, but not all, of the sonatas, trios, and so on, but MOST of the early Berlin-period harpsichord concertos. If you want to know why CPE was considered an “Originalgenie” in his lifetime, or why in his day HE and not his father was “Bach,” then listen to those concertos. I recommend Wq 1, Wq 3, Wq 6, Wq 12, Wq 18 for starters… in the Miklos Spanyi performances, or Wq 14 in the old Trevor Pinnock English Concert performance.
CPE played as accompanyist on the harpsichord with Friederich der Grosse, one can imagine them strolling in the garden at the Sanssouci in Potsdam…
Actually, they did not get along very well…
