@joseph, what is one of the best CPE Bach “personal” pieces that showcase his prescience of musical trends of the centuries to come?

  I can think of at least three: Wq 12 in F Major (all three movements, but particularly the 1st and the 3rd), Wq 46 (particularly the 2nd movement), and Wq 23… You can add the 1st movement of Wq 31 to that too. THere are more, but those will get you started.

      I should have added, that the best performances of Wq 12, 23, and 31 are those of Miklos Spanyi… Wq 46 I prefer Andreas Staier
