Oh no…. just what we didn’t need :-(. Microsoft operating system for quantum computers. Sigh. Goodbye any hopes for security, privacy, and good design.

Linksys is owned by Cisco. I used to work with a technology “partner” (read: exploited subcontractor) of Cisco’s. Heard a few strange things about John Chambers (exec chairman and former CEO) during that time. Watch him on some videos done by Cisco: he is very unsettling

Thank you Cara.

scroll down to Cherry Blossom.You’re right about Chambers. Isn’t it funny how all the tech (leaders ?) people in high positions are, (what’s the word,) unstable ?
-
Having worked in the tech sector for about 15 years, I can see why people might become unstable:
– constant, incomplete, shifting projects;
– many “products” not really products but just marketing wrap around “happy” accidents of success;
– no real, substantive communication between “sales”, ” engineering” and “finance”;
– “god” complex of…[Read more]-
… – unrealistic deadlines, then throwing more programmers at the problem during the construction phase (waterfall);
– PM’s that allow scope creep;
– burnout;
and my favorite – “That’s not a bug, it’s a feature. It can be a bug in the next release cycle”
But yeah, the god-complex (w/ the associated ego clashes) is a big one.

I wonder if the insertion of Hollywood and media into our “phenomenological” feedback loop, through which we experience the world, is the cause (or one of the causes) of apathy and powerlessness in people? In Hollywood’s (and the media’s) twisting and shifting of the interpretation of the phenomena we experience so that it no longer truly…[Read more]

I agree with you 100%. I think that’s why TV was originally called the glass teat, as mostly, it enables a constant feed of drivel, inane, and stupidity resulting in reckless or ‘wrong’ thinking. It’s a perfect way to dull the soul, or frighten it.

It is my hope that those who are ensnared in the satanic pounding of the popular ‘music’ will one night hear the strains of the Baroque entering their dreams on a silken thread, and they will say “Let me discover this heavenly music, that I may become whole in my spirit”.

For those asking about the vidchat, yes there’s on Friday at 7… I’m behind on scheduling and also facing some difficulties scheduling, which is why I’ve been doing it on a monthly basis rather than quarterly. I’ll get back to quarterly when the dust settles.

Folks forget about the news, trust the folks living in Puerto Rico. We do have an humanitarian crisis. People are behaving, there are 5 hour lines to get gas. Citizens understand the situation, any other place in the world you would have people punching each other, not happening here.
In a crisis there are four things that can be done:
