Linksys is owned by Cisco. I used to work with a technology “partner” (read: exploited subcontractor) of Cisco’s. Heard a few strange things about John Chambers (exec chairman and former CEO) during that time. Watch him on some videos done by Cisco: he is very unsettling

Having worked in the tech sector for about 15 years, I can see why people might become unstable:
– constant, incomplete, shifting projects;
– many “products” not really products but just marketing wrap around “happy” accidents of success;
– no real, substantive communication between “sales”, ” engineering” and “finance”;

… – unrealistic deadlines, then throwing more programmers at the problem during the construction phase (waterfall);
– PM’s that allow scope creep;
– burnout;
and my favorite – “That’s not a bug, it’s a feature. It can be a bug in the next release cycle”
But yeah, the god-complex (w/ the associated ego clashes) is a big one.

I agree with you 100%. I think that’s why TV was originally called the glass teat, as mostly, it enables a constant feed of drivel, inane, and stupidity resulting in reckless or ‘wrong’ thinking. It’s a perfect way to dull the soul, or frighten it.

For those asking about the vidchat, yes there’s on Friday at 7… I’m behind on scheduling and also facing some difficulties scheduling, which is why I’ve been doing it on a monthly basis rather than quarterly. I’ll get back to quarterly when the dust settles.

Folks forget about the news, trust the folks living in Puerto Rico. We do have an humanitarian crisis. People are behaving, there are 5 hour lines to get gas. Citizens understand the situation, any other place in the world you would have people punching each other, not happening here.
