A review and discussion of humanities. Includes some history and shows interesting parallels with medieval to renaissance times. Calls for a return of moral purpose and a “return” to the humanity of humanities. I recommend it.

I come from a city founded by gold mining… it’s a brutal, tough business. If things seem too good to be true, they certainly are in the case of mining.

The Sanchi, Panamanian ship, en route from Iran to South Korea collides with Hong Kong freighter carrying 136,000 tonnes of oil. Payback for earlier collisions? Escalation?
“In this day and age with anticollision systems, radar, with ship identification systems, two enormous ships like this should not collide,” oceanography expert Dr Simon Box…[Read more] -

It’s about military intelligence. Every country does it, so it’s not so big news. Well.. for me it was a bit strange because this newspaper is famous to be very anti-Russian. So it’s a little odd that they reported or “leaked” this story at the first place. It almost feels like a some kind of psyop.

“A socio-cultural-political structure is in place wherein the individual is bombarded, to the point of psychical saturation, with self-serving, elitist manufactured media content. Decades back, news and entertainment merged thus freedom of choice amounts to psychical wanderings in a wilderness of empty, consumer cravings and unquenchable l…[Read more]

“In other words, America’s wealth is sustained by a pump-and-dump operation facilitated by the dollar’s reserve status, replacing genuine industrial production. It is worth clarifying one point: foreign owned dollars never leave the US, only their function. It is more correct to state that the US Government causes dollars to be diverted from forei…[Read more]

“The bet, on the part of elites, is that this tech breaks the inefficiency problem of classical authoritarian surveillance states: only a few people, comparatively, are needed. … Technology which can be used by elites to make other humans inferior, will be. “A remarkable sign of America’s interest in Australian diplomatic presence in countries it views as hostile was the revelation earlier this year that the CIA had requested Canberra to host a North Korean Embassy and to open its own mission in Pyongyang in 2014.”

Take a look at the locations of Djibouti and Gwadar on a map…. energy politics writ large?

They also have the port in Sri Lanka….-
While the “high ground” is now space, and naval power is showing its limitations more than ever, this does not mean that there is not room for second echelon powers like China to “mess about with boats”, which can serve to “impress the natives” – especially when the guns are within firing range of petroleum facilities.

Aside from Iran’s declaration that they have “hard evidence” of foreign intervention in the protests, there seems little surprising here. What did the US expect to be the responses to their UN Security Council meeting request? Surely they’d “gamed” it out… why did they even bother? Another case of being completely out of touch or a strategy to…[Read more]

““DPRK: that is the big unknown here.”Most likely scenario:

I wonder if that NK refugee who ran through the hail of bullets at that border and disappeared into a hospital with the insane amount of parasites in his stomach has anything to do with China actually getting its a$$ into gear and preparing for (what appears to me…) massive population displacement….or Trump dining in the Forbidden City….…[Read more]
