This is the part with the John Kerry quote:
“All of this was made crystal clear in August 2015 by Obama’s Secretary of State John Kerry in a highly revealing interview he gave to Reuters where he said this about why the US agreed to the JCPOA,

‘But if everybody thinks, “Oh, no, we’re just tough; the United States of America, we have our secondary…[Read more]

Alexander Mercouris on irrationality of US foreign policy. He has some incredible quotations from John Kerry in 2015.

This is an interesting little story. Pakistan initiated Afghan peace talks… they’re being held in Oman. One small problem: the Taliban are not taking part.

I visited Lebanon and Beirut 5 or 6 years ago. It was a beautiful country (what little I saw of it) and the people were welcoming, warm and very keen to make sure we had a wonderful visit. Nothing was too much trouble for them to do to help us. There were still bullet holes in many buildings and many had a sad neglected melancholy but there was…[Read more]

Question: Is Hezbollah a Nazi International “child” that has grown up and is now in rebellion against / has defected from / is now playing against its creator? Thoughts anyone?

    • Beirut was once known as The Paris of the the Middle East. So as our demon possessed friend Hillary Clinton, Im wondering “What happened?”.

I am reading and can recommend “The Structure of Magic” by Grindler and Bandler, first published 1975. It is perhaps the first book about using NLP for counselling. This is not why I am reading it…. rather I am reading it from the perspective of trying to understand use of NLP techniques for social engineering. When reading the book with thi…[Read more]

A lot of the land and property in Ireland is still owned by some old, wealthy British noble families. When I visited last year, vast tracts of Dublin were pointed out as being owned by Lord so and so. Also saw many of the large estates and castles, which are still owned by another Lord so and so. War of the Roses all over again?

@izeta, he mentioned two books definitely…. can’t remember the third.
    The two I remember:
    – Douglas Hofstadter. “Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid”
    – G. W. Leibniz. “Philosophical Papers and Letters: A Selection”
Both of these he has, he showed the second one on the screen.

    • Thanks, the other one is a hard-to-find book and someone here has a rare copy of it. I’ll have to go back to the recording to hear it again.

“The weaknesses are in the Wi-Fi standard itself, and not in individual products or implementations. Therefore, any correct implementation of WPA2 is likely affected. This is exactly how NSA Public Key-Private Key systems are implemented. So, who was in the room that allowed such an exploit to be incorporated into the Standard. Yeah, I…[Read more]

Yes, good point. It is similar here in the Middle East. Relationships are paramount. Try to get something done without a referral or introduction of some sort and it is slow and tedious.

Sting, The Russians, from his debut solo album, The Dream of the Blue Turtles, released in June 1985, and released as a single in November. 32 years later: where are we now?

Maybe cynical…. but also they may see this as a way of forwarding their plans… a way to keep momentum going. After all, papers with signature can be lost, burnt, retracted, etc.

    • Remember that here we are in the Latin world, where unless you have some really niche skills, family connections are all important in getting a job. And in the public sector, the concept of patronage is engrained in the mentality with regard to the assignment of tenders and consultancies, even when the niceties of the law are formally respected…
