This is how you know it’s time to stop carrying an iPhone. (not to mention why you expect your post will “magically” disappear from the forum.
1. You’ve owned several and always liked/loved them
2. You actually liked the feature of how it handles updates
3. You learn that Apple/Google unilaterally included contact tracing API’s (software hooks)…[Read more]-
GOOD TO KNOW. I keep mine in a Faraday bag and only pull it out to use or charge but it tells me it couldn’t download the upgrade because it wasn’t hooked up to the charger… DESPITE all my efforts to keep it from automatically downloading. Sounds like I am going to start using my ancient flip-phone again.

I’ve lived without an electronic leash (phone) for about 8 years now…and guess what, life is just fine without it…but even so, they need to know they get a big fat Nyet, Nein, No on “gestapo tracing” (let’s call it for what it is)

Seems old phones have a use again. Mine is from 2012. Mostly it is tucked away in a Faraday box. Rarely use the thing.

From today all travel restrictions within Italy have been lifted. The cv narrative is being eroded, also with a recent serological test, using a statistically relevant sample (7,000 people currently being doubled to 14,000) showing that about 1/3 of the population (that would be 20 million) have been exposed to “it”, developing the antibody and…[Read more]

Out of all of my adventures in free-speech on twitter and 4chan, nothing got me more animosity than stating my admittedly layman opinion that the second law of thermodynamic is invalid because it is describing an impossibility.
I have yet to find someone explaining it without reverting to name-calling and loud noises.
The problem with the second…[Read more]-
Like you, I am a layman here, but will speak anyway. In my early 20’s I had one of those ‘spiritual experiences’ that come from ‘nowhere’…hard to go through, hard to understand, and I am still trying to do so, one of the reasons I joined this community. The experience though did leave me with the very strong intuitive feeling that everything,…[Read more]

You are not alone in your thoughts on this. In Particular the Forum has been, how shall we say, “less civil” over the past few months. Having been a big part of large music forum in the Oughts, I can spot certain tactics a mile away. I also know that the rule, “never feed the trolls” still holds true. I’d like to take this opportunity to…[Read more]

If you feel the urge to debate or argue with everyone, its time to take a break from social media, news, “conspiracy stuff” etc… and refocus. It feels wonderfull in my experience. 🙂

It actually began somewhere between May and September 2016 and took off from there. There were some indications in the vidchats as well. The “community”, if you want to call it that, has been devolving ever since then. The ones who speak of trolls and attacks the loudest have been the very ones guilty of such behavior. They viciously gang up and…[Read more]

I wanted to hit up the community and see if anyone was familiar with the brothers, Eric and Bret Weinstein, and their current crusade? Yep, these guys used to appear on the Rubin Report. Haven’t viewed the Rubin Report for quite awhile since The Evergreen event. That plus Dr Peterson’s experience in Canada shed light on the “virus” that was released on young budding intellectuals in academia. Quite tragic… like Alzheimer’s on an older one.

I’m familiar with the Rubin Report but don’t keep up with it. Yeah, there is that feeling permeating academia. I’d like to get into to it and work to change it but those are lofty goals.

If these problems pursue due to the world simultaneously being online, I would not mind just having sound without video. That might up your buffering rate. In that way, the chitchat can go on.

Given these tumultuous times I have appreciated the posting of news from the extraordinarily ‘diverse’ and discerning folks that are attracted to Giza. Other than a bit of an overdose of info about covid 19, I think we’re fine.

Again I am not saying that I am totally opposed to news articles. However, I think we need to focus more on research and the culture. @josephhFarrell @matthewlewist

Good point, posting music or book links for example helps “raise the sights” to a broader dimension.

This is an ideal time for creative initiatives, in whatever sphere. Such work can have unexpected and favourable consequences.

What about this: putting down our own notes on the “Topological Metaphor” (at home and offline), each person will have a different starting point and thus a different contribution. Shall we give it, say, six months?

Good idea. For the members that are interested we could do this with other disciplines and a member could take the liberty to organize something like for a certain discipline. Then members could decide which projects they would like to participate in depending on their expertise and interest.

Hey folks. I’ve been thinking of doing something a little new in the members’ area called “Monologues.” What these would be are any topics that members would like me to talk about in greater length than we have for vidchats. Thx for sharing, after more than 15 years of listening to “modern music” there is allot of classical music in my music diet now thanks to your postings and vidchat discussions about it. Especially the organ music was a bit hard to get into at first but now I like it very much.
