On an interview the other day (on Hoagland’s channel) somebody described his Miami-Istanbul flight, no particularly unexpected red tape. What was odd was that when he booked his seat online, it showed that only 3 out of 9 places in all the rows were available. When he got on the plane, however, the flight was full.

Fun with algos – you probably already heard this one. Using Goolag search, type in any number from 100 to 3,000 (it may work with higher ones too) followed by “new cases”, and an alleged “report” appears (or is generated) regarding whatever obscure location somewhere.

Sad to learn that beloved Maestro Ennio Morricone has left the podium. One of my often played recordings is ‘Yo-Yo Ma plays Ennio Morricone’ … and the melancholy theme music from brilliantly scored ‘Cinema Paradiso’ pulls the heartstrings like no other. Thank you for the beauty Maestro Morricone.
