Here in Florida hurricane country, I’ve had the same worry about DeSantis and those taking aim at him. Same feeling here. Yes, it’s mainly normal winter weather, but possibly “helped along” or used as an excuse for blackouts and/or manipulation of the energy markets. If hard-to-believe official explanations and radical policy recommendations follow all this, then that’ll be a clue there was more at work than seasonal weather and pure chance.

Can we just “cancel” public schooling in America?
Just abolishing this rotten–now molding and poisonous–system might be more humane than subjecting children to it. I value education a great deal, but how much education is actually going on in these schools?

Funny–I was recently thinking, “Gee, with the way they’re changing definitions in real time, maybe I should get ahold of a printed copy of the next-to-latest edition of Webster’s.” I’ve got it on CD, but that’s not the same.

I second Diogenes on the multi-volume Oxford English Dictionary (the OUP dictionary he refers to, I’m assuming). It has long been considered the “gold standard,” or at least it was–I have no idea what kind of tinkering they’ve been up to in recent years. So early 1970s and older is good advice too.
