Free speech is NOT discourteous or insulting speech, and your remarks, as far as I’m concerned, are in that category. I have asked Support to ban you due to complaints I’ve had about you, and to issue you a refund. Additionally, attacking DownunderET, who is not even charging you anything since he is not the owner of this site, and then demanding…[Read more]

ALlright… that’s it Truthteller. Your comment about “unlike some of you people” is insulting to ALL of us. Free speech does NOT include, on MY site, discourteous speech.

Well it is 5AM and I have been working flat out for almost 36 hours, to get the editing and formatting done and uploaded to Lulu, which I think I’ve managed to do. I’ve ordered a few proof copies and, if they are acceptable, then I will make an announcement here, and on the main site, and on the Facebook page, that the new book is finally…[Read more]

I’m ready to hit the “purchase” button!

Let purchasers outside the US be reassured, with the “print on demand” system postage costs for printed books are quite low (and Walter Bosley’s books are on lulu too).

I’ll go out on the far end end of the branch here and engage in a little HOS (copyright J. P. Farrell, 2018).
From all recent indications the title of the book would appear to be something along the lines of “Die Philosophie und Metaphysik von Affektenlehre”. A totally abductive move on my part and fitting here, I think, as most logicians and Cog…[Read more] -

Yes… and the laugh I got this morning from your puppet dialogue made my day!

Can we put this into a philosophy catagory ???

I’m definitely going to try the self-publishing route first. If the formatting turns out ok that way, I’m going to go with that.

Well…save the congratulations until after reading the book… I’m taking a horrible chance on the way I’ve approached this topic.

Well, at 6:45PM, the beast is slain! The book is DONE, but now the real work begins of trying to format and edit the beast. I’m moderately pleased with the results… I hope readers will be.

Congratulations!

Hooray! Congratulations are in order for its completion! We are looking forward to reading it Dr Farrell 🙂 Then we will congratulate you again 😉

Hopefully you feel great! A great high often follows on the heels of accomplishment. I’m working my way through your books in the order they were written but, I cheat and read each new one as it comes out. I am learning a lot about education (not to mention other things) as I track your work; this despite years of college teaching. Oh well,…[Read more]

A nice performance of the Passacaglia and (double) Fugue here… almost the equal of Biggs’, but in this case you can watch it being played:

His hand technique looks very unusual to me. It seems almost as if he isn’t even using his thumbs. I understand in the early Baroque and before that thumbs weren’t used when playing keyboard, but wasn’t it precisely J.S. and C.P.E. Bach who pioneered and codified the use of all ten digits on keys? (At least to me, the handful of JSB pieces I…[Read more]

That’s one theory… another is that they seldom used heels (given some of the pedal boards were short), but as far as I recall, most of the pedals boards on the organs (and pedal harpsichords) that JS, WF, and CPE Bach actually played were long like the modern ones. The plain fact of the matter is, there’s no set way (technically speaking) of…[Read more]

Most people in the Russian Orthodox Church regard the imperial family as martyrs, and there are indeed icons of them.

Wow… just found this nice lute arrangement of one of my faves, the sinfonia from the cantata Wir danken dir Gott BWV 29… this is really neat, especially as I love the sound of lutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uceI6WMdK2I

I JUST finished chapter eight, with one more, plus an appendix, to go, and I THINK maybe, just MAYBE, I managed to pull this whole “philosophical angle” off, even when discussing nuts and bolts… or in this case, frequencies and modulation.

Many footnotes, and lots of paring to keep the page count relatively low for self-publishing, to keep the cost low to the reader. Plus I’m trying to avoid certain oft repeated areas in the topic, and concentrate on the philosophical angles… so yes, I’m hoping to have it done soon.

Well, I’ve begun the final two chapters of this book, which like the first few, have to be written simultaneously to make sure they “fit’ well enough… this whole process has been different than my normal writing method, and slowed down by the additional fact that I’m trying very hard not to repeat data others have cited, or the framework from…[Read more]

Hooray! Sounds tricky, like a picture puzzle with pieces that have to fit together just right to make the subject appear properly . . . still not a clue inspite of the many hints scattered here and there.

Anybody else smell “footnote” here. Well looks like we might get it before the holiday season. I also wonder if Shiloh will get a mention on the acknowledgement page, she must have been some sort of help.
