I thought something similar to this myself… I want to try to explain it, and I beg forgiveness because I often take too many words to express myself.
Basically I wondered to myself (after a 12 hour day X-series binge) “Does DJ’s Christian Esoteric beliefs and respect for Theosophy’s center harm his research or aid it?”
I sort of came to the conclusion that of course his background is guiding his next steps as he follows the X-mystery and so his presentation could be “biased”.
However, I went back to old faithful for me since being introduced to JPF: the topological metaphor. It’s how I came to terms with my good friend’s Pentecostal Holiness quirks. She doesn’t read anything but the bible. Which is shocking to me, to only read one book. But as I got to know her, I realized she knows things. You could say, as she might, that God talks to her in her heart. But you could also say, as I tend to, that because of the nature of the fabric of reality and consciousness, and because that original “No-thing” the “empty hyper-set containing all functions” is in each resulting surface, or derivation, that each “system of belief” contains the center and the whole, and so shares many things in common (though not all things) with most other surfaces. I could never only read one book, but I realized her mastery of only one book, had actually given her more insight into human interaction and spiritual warfare (recognizing the logismoi or demons or Jungian archetypes we come in contact with each day and sorting through all that to find peace again) than I have gained by reading many different books without mastery.
I think that the same thing might apply to DJ’s research, of course he reads many more books than I, but because he has mastered one “surface”, because he really understands the mind of Steiner he’s able to track his themes more effectively through different contexts.
Since I lack a real understanding of Theosophy’s history and Steiner’s philosophies, I have had to watch each episode of the X-series multiple times and am still a bit fuzzy on some of the more esoteric themes. I have had many drunken stupors furrowing my brow wondering what concepts should be connected to the “ascended masters” – and that’s only because I want there to be “good guys” and “bad guys” and trying to put an ascended master into either of those categories is near impossible for me at the moment… Dr. Farrell did a good job in his interview feigning ignorance to the ascended masters, but also admitting that many of the information channeled is too complex to have been made up by one person.
