For anyone with a private well, here is an inexpensive DIY manual pump. Even if you have generators, having a secondary back up in case gas becomes unavailable isn’t the worst idea in the world. I have first hand experience in the installation and use of manual pumps for private wells. Around ’95 I had a little part time job helping a friend of mine install manual pumps in newly built desert communities in Nevada. The manual pump is a great idea in addition to the standard electric pump.

Most electric pumps push water up the column. I assume the manual pump would be drawing from the top…

I went the expensive route and added a solar pump to a new well in the middle of our ranch. It didn’t help so much covered in snow, but I was worried about the “what if” something knocked out the electric when our animals needed it the most. A manual pump certainly is worth researching. Thanks for the idea.

Thanks, Donna bean. Of course, it has a 325′ max. well depth and all of my aquifers are at 425′. I will look around to see if I can find some old wells (I think I know where one could be).

Another option is a cistern (though I hear some localities don’t allow collecting rainwater, for some reason). If the next place I live has a big enough backyard, you can bet I’m putting in something to collect rainwater, even just 10-20 gallons for a little extra in an emergency.

Maybe those may be the little wiggly things that show up every once in awhile in the exposed tank on my Water Pic teeth flosser? Sometimes I go to use it and there are little swigglies swimming around. Now I use fresh water before each use.

Oh yes, thank you, i have been searching high and low since seeing your post, although i haven’t found any videos of working models , but that doesn’t surprise me one bit, as they would have been ‘taken down’ as to not leave any traces of success to inspire others to do the same . . .-
I don’t have a 3D printer or I’d take the designs and futz with it myself. It would be nice to have unlimited energy for far less than a year’s on-the-grid bill.

Yes I see your point on the speed obstacle. Perhaps complex symbols transmitted telepathically (human analogue) could overcome the speed issue? In addition to maintenance issues, according to the article they also lacked certain cold-weather equipment. “In Texas, wind turbines are not equipped with such de-icing packages because operators there never expected to need them, Kurt said.”

If analogue has no number base, how can the cosmological information field be composed of numbers? or, is it that numbers, which are just symbols with attached meaning… wait a minute. Hmm…interesting. Very interesting. Well, my understanding (and not saying that it’s correct) is that the language of the Universe is colour, tone, and archetype. I believe that numbers may be an end-result of that, or stated differently, something that pops out of that.

Say we think of a ‘modem’ as a communication ‘node’. It would seem an analogue node could communicate with another analogue node without creating a signal sharing conflict whereas digital nodes do. Interesting thought. A node in computer science is a data structure that usually is set up like a tree, or a collection of fixed data points or other nodes. I’m not sure that analogue could handle such a concept, not only because it would be horrifically slow, but because there would be no fixed point. I don’t know. I’m not really a computer…

Maybe a person has to experience, or have recent exposure to, analog music (or analog anything else) to appreciate/remember how different it is from its digital simulacrum. Fewer and fewer analog experiences are occurring. Then there’s always going to be a fraction of the population without the ability to perceive the richness of an analog…
