So when I read this about the latest Taliban success – https://www.rt.com/news/398752-taliban-afghanistan-seized-sayad/ – I thought:
I wonder what the symbolic (perhaps esoteric) meaning of this whole failure to conquer the Afghan-world-island-heartland thing could be?
    The answer that arrived was:
It’s something to do with wanting to claim the…[Read more]

    • The term “Taliban militants” is a little vague here. Could be a “tribal” matter? Anyway the “Taliban” movement was largely initiated by the US through Saudi puppets (who have their own religious axe to grind). The Russians could say a lot more about this than they have.

Who is the tail and who is the dog? Another development in the ongoing Team Saudi (now including Israel) spat with Qatar, this time via closure of the Qatari media organization Al Jazeera, whose offices are being closed in Jerusalem.

Well well well…. what has prompted this change? The Saudi position is now that the affairs of Syria are not the Saudi state’s business…. how bizarre a statement from one of the sponsors of the insurgents/rebels/ISIS.

      • Yes, that is the view of a couple of the commenters on the article. However, the opening statement sounds so much like the ones Russia has been saying for the past couple of years… makes one wonder who they have been speaking to!

In complex dynamic systems that reach the critical state, the most catastrophic event that can occur is an exponential function of scale.

This means that if you double the system, you do not double the risk; you increase it by a factor of five or 10.
