Russians were urging Putin to retaliate the attack. There are hardliners in Russia also and they think that if he dosen’t do nothing the West will keep bullying. And let me tell you they kind of have a point because if the West keeps doing this it may push Russia to a corner and see the red button as their only option.

True but Machiavellian reasoning leads me to suspect the “monthly cheque” scenario. And volcanic eruptions would inconveniently interdict “allied” air traffic.

This is the same officer who returned his “Legion of Honour” medal as a protest against the French war on Libya in 2011.
