Well, I am re-thinking my strategy for Part Two of the book: I may just do TWO chapters, and make the other one a webinar…

Now THIS is really very good; my friend Scott deHart sent this to me, and it is REALLY worth your time to listen to. This is Bob Dylan talking about his Nobel Prize for literature:
-
Is the common surface, the high culture and Bob Dylan analogical process from that to his song writing.
-
My! My! .. I listened twice .. The ‘Like’ botton isn’t quite sufficient for this .. we need a ‘Wow’ button .. Even the way Dylan speaks .. it’s difficult to distinguish whether he is just talking or reciting another of his poems .. It was like listening to lace .. (delicate, intricate and finely connected) .. the weaving of words .. Fabulous ..…[Read more]

First time you’ve heard of Adventure Unlimited and David Childress? He’s a modern day Indiana Jones, he took Christopher Dunn to Cusco to see if Mr Dunn could apply his mind to the stonework in Peru..
Here – an hour and a half of pure bonheur.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGW0-wYo48E.. in fact – Im off to watch it again..

That sculpture in the opening photograph of the article reminds me of the many sculptures done by Helen Martins (deceased) in Nieu-Bethesda, a small town in South Africa’s eastern cape. She created hundreds of sculptures and lived in a house called “The Owl House”. See here: https://www.thoughtco.com/owl-house-nieu-bethesda-south-africa-4123204

There’s a couple of ‘crackers’ there .. the rest are ‘mixed nuts’ ..

At least the ‘mixed nuts’ are segregated and relegated to the last day. I see that Richard Dolan will be on the โmixed nutsโ panel discussion. I wonder how he fits in there (the only one not wearing a blue chicken costume) … Gary McKinnon is a presenter … in person? A couple of the more serious speakers might reply that each individual is responsible for his/her own speech at any given conference. But there has to be a limit. Relaxing with some Haendel… here’s one of my faves: Op 6 No 12 (Trevor Pinnock and the English Concert). (For those who’ve been listening to vidchats, you’ll see the figured bass that we’ve occasionally talked about with the numbers in the bass line. This technique is key to how the Baroque and Classical composers thought of harmony. They didn’t…[Read more]

Joseph / Dana .. It’s difficult to listen to this music and not shed a tear .. it’s just SO SO beautiful .. Then I wonder .. will humanity EVER create such musical magic again ? This music takes you to places you don’t want to leave (unlike todays music that makes you want to run) .. Beautiful .. Thank you

No heresy here Dr. Farrell after my experience listening to Handel. In fact, I fell asleep before I recall it ended sitting in my chair in front of computer last evening and awoke in a fog of delight 9 hours later as I marvel that my body has no stiffness whatsoever. Thank you, and now itโs time to make coffee and listen to Danaโs selection.

Nice to meet a former ASL student. I studied with Frank Mason in the 80’s and wonder who you studied with?
Worse than Xerum 525, we cooked the linseed or Walnut oil with sugar of lead at (if I remember correctly) 230ยฐf and then added mastic varnish to get the Maroger medium. It’s a miracle I didn’t blow up my place but probably have a reduced…[Read more]-

If you’re interested in opinions on this, I, for one, would prefer to read what you say in a book rather than have some of it in a webinar. That way your full argument and exposition is captured in canonical form (as you sometimes refer to you printed works in the members’ videochats).
… and lose the philosopher’s tone??! ๐ก
Would it be possible to do both? As in.. have the webinar transcripted and printed in the book (in order to have all the info in one place..) and use the book to refer to the webinar as a ‘plus’..
(thinking of ‘When the Zombies attack’ and Internet goes down because the power stations have stopped running kind of thing..)
Ohh I hope this book is…[Read more]
I have recently been made aware, somewhat forcefully, of the importance of the webinars, the podcasts, documents and conversations and thought that at some point in the future, transcripts of the webinars might make for a rather interesting Lulu book, provided there are no undisclosed reasons going against the notion.
