So Turkey wants its gold back…. the article ascribes this to preparation for coming sanctions, I think there is something else going on.
“Turkey has decided to pull all of its gold reserves from the US Federal Reserve System. The Central Bank of Turkey requested that the 220 tons of gold be returned to Turkey. At the same time, two Turkish b…[Read more] -

It depends who’s directing this particular show 🙂

I wonder what will be the effect of millions of NorKs entering into the world of web manipulation ?
-
They will be busy watching p0rn and soap operas….

I don’t think pornography and soap operas should be shunned per se. I think addiction to mediated content and the establishment of a false continuum of “user experience” are more pernicious aspects of electro-magnetic connectivity. A huge injection of confused post-Stalinist dupes is going to shake the ripple-stick of the electronic aether in a…[Read more]

It would be good to see Korea undergo a cultural / creative boom, after the initial rush by “northerners” to get their tech toys. But the question is, how different will their reunification be from the German experience? Despite the blood and treasure spent by the US and “allies” over Korea, discussion of the country’s history and culture seems…[Read more]

Quantum radar coming soon (or already here and this is soft disclosure): “The goal for our project is to create a robust source of entangled photons that can be generated at the press of a button,” Jonathan Baugh, a faculty member at the University of Waterloo’s Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC), said in a statement. “This project will allow…[Read more]

McKinsey study on AI potential in industries…. essentially most sectors can get gains in their existing business from AI systems. Marketing and “complex sales” seem to be the areas that might be most impacted. Sadly these are fields of high “human touch” so it seems they too will be de-huma…[Read more]

So the sanctions on Russian aluminium producers are also going to affect German auto maker Volkswagen…. surprise, surprise. The anglo-American alliance takes another swipe at central and Eastern Europe.

There is something “they’re not saying” with this UN diplomat’s death…. he died “suddenly”, he was the representative for Cote D’Ivoire, he was 67, and “coincidentally”, the Cote D’Ivoire is currently a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council…..

“Persuasive technologies could just as easily be viewed as subversive technologies—subversive of human intention and judgment, manipulative of human emotions.”
Long article but it cites several studies and is a good review of the dehumanising effect of technology.

Well the Koreans have been busy while we’ve all been distracted with the Syrian chaos:

Indeed! I saw that too – I wonder if by uniting they will become thorn in Russia and China’s side. I wonder if NK will be baited a carrot to enter the Neocon fold. Trump seems very keen to continue with NK talks. There’s a dark plan in it, and it I think it’s directly linked to the Tillerson visit to Bariloche.
-
Pompeo met with Kim already. The 500 megatonne hydrogen bomb blewing up Kim’s mountain and killing his entire nuclear project might have had a lot to do with these talks happening. Now they need to clean up the minefield..
-
I thought that was a NK test that went bad. No wonder Kim is no longer threatening.

The same sort of peace may “suddenly” materialise between the US & Russia.

Not unsurprisingly they are taking a leaf from the Germans’ book – remember the longstanding connections between the two countries.
Indeed, I was wondering if Turkey was playing a German hand
Though ostensibly bad (the “sultan” manages to insult just about everybody) relations are deep, with 4 million “German Turks” and their relative family networks in Anatolia. I would like to read some updated research on this but most unsurprisingly seems to be in German only.
Start of the end of the fed.
I believe that Turkey has to wait 5-10 years to get their gold back, because there are some serious “transport&security” issues.
