Hello. I’m late to the party and have a lot of reading to do to get caught up. I’m impressed with the quality of Dr. Farrell’s research and his approach to high octane speculations. Time to order some books

Dr. Paglia has been warning about the decline and corruption of the modern humanities for decades, and she is a serious critic of the postmodern ethos that currently dominates much of academia.

I don’t think even well paid thriller authors and their staff of ghost writers could have thought THIS one up:

I saw this and laughed. Just flush the EU down the loo.

First world problems… Money clogging up the sewerage outlet.. Whilst entire countries are demolished by natural disasters.. You know what.. If it’s in Switzerland, I’ll say it.. This isnt general richman looniness. This is ritualistic.

Yes, strange rituals seem to go on there behind the facade of respectability (and sometimes in the open as in the Gottard Tunnel display).

This is an interesting articulation of counterfeiting as a method of warfare.
In the case of Zimbabwe, I lived in South Africa at the time of the land reforms and I think the author over simplifies the situation enormously. Many people – both black and white – fled the Zimbabwe due to violent attacks of the “reformers”, who were little more than…[Read more] -

Today I listened to the audio version of “Nietzsche and the Nazis” read by its author, Stephen Hicks. It’s a philosophical exposition but not full of difficult language. I found it thought provoking and learnt quite a bit. Find it here:
-
I read through the comments on Stephen Hick’s book Nietzsche and the Nazi’s , Dr. JPF would give it a thumb’s down IMHO. It’s thesis obscures much of the nature of Nazi party , correlating that possibly Nietzsche inspired err had profound influence in uncle Adolph’s reasoning and actions. But that’s just from reading the comments.
-
Stephen Hicks points out both where Nietzsche’s philosophy does and does NOT correspond to Nazi ideology. He points out several instances where the two are not at all in sync and includes Nietzche’s own criticisms of German culture. My conclusion in having listened to the whole thing is that Hicks is definitely anti Nazi and does not attribute…[Read more]
