Music and Zeitgeist. A mere few decades ago, millions of people were tapping their feet to these pieces, with lots of brass, muted percussion and funny lyrics.

Well folks, chapter seven is ALMOST done (a very DARK chapter), and I can see the end in site, only three more to go!!
-
Dr F.. you’re literally writing them faster than I can read them….. give us a chance to catch up 🙂 So…. DARK as in Dark Ages… or DARK as in… heavy hitting? (I’m still trying to guess the topic of the new book :))
-
Yes.
-
-
No matter how high my reading pile gets, your books jump the line and get read as quickly as I get them in my hands. That’s doubly true now that you’ve repeatedly been saying…. “it’s in the book” God Speed Dr. Farrell.

Well!!!! Thanks to Catherine Fitts who found out the name of that old comic who played a professor that babbled endless pseudo-academic nonsense! His name was Professor Irwin Corey, the “World’s Foremost Authority”, and here’s a clip:

Lest I be thought a purist, I DO enjoy JS Bach on other instruments than the ones he wrote for, IF it’s not done simply as a means of substituting the ever-present carpentry for the appropriate instrument, but as an exploration of “other possibilities”. Here’s one of my faves, the concerti for two and three harpsichords, and orchestra, arranged…[Read more]

Folks Part Two of the Solari Quarterlywrap up is in the members’ area now.
-
Here are the links to the Goldberg Variations mentioned in that recording, and to the final movement of the Saint-Saens Organ symphony (the “furniture mover” as I call it):
-
Hearing this is a powerful experience. I would love to hear it performed live, but instead sometimes I’ve caught it on air and have enjoyed a driveway concert in the car with volume turned way up. About his third and last symphony Saint-Saëns said: “I gave everything to it I was able to give. What I have here accomplished, I will never achieve again.”
-
It really is a wonderful piece of music. And I’ve always adored St.-Saens, one of the few Romanticist composers I genuinely like. You might like his piano concerti… they’re also gems.

Do you think you’ll really come to Asheville?! My boyfriend and I would love to meet you !
-
And Shiloh, if she is up to travel!
-
I doubt I will have time for it, and she really does NOT like traveling in cars.
-
Yeah, I’m not one for travel myself. Surprisingly, my cat LOVES the car. Best to keep the lady of the family happy 🙂

I increasingly think that checks and balances will work internationally, as less corrupt agencies in one country challenge the assumptions of more corrupt agencies in another.

There are a few bright lights I am aware of, researchers standing by their research despite taking personal flak (Montassari and Gatti as explained somewhat above, Gherardi and Exley and Shoenfield on injected aluminum/aluminium), apparently a television form of Vaxxed aired twice in Poland so that nation may be widely aware the CDC cannot be…[Read more]

Dr Joseph, at 1h13 in this youtube video, you talked about patristic texts which discuss Giants, as the authors were reading about them in the Bible. Are there any texts you may ‘suggest’ to a relative ‘layman’ where I dont need to speak ancient greek.. or latin.. 🙂 One of my favourite ‘conversation’ starters is talking about how Giants were…[Read more]

You would have to get an English language patrology, such as the 10 volume Eerdmans’ Ante-Nicene Fathers set, and then use the index in those volumes.

Beautiful, but funny, I have never felt like a bungling moron before until I heard that. So sad that we miss so much.

Well… more harmony of the spheres… the old doctrine, I’ve always thought, was grounded in a real cosmology of God and the universe, and it seems increasingly that science is catching up to it.
-
When I was a little girl. My mum would tell me that she believed that every thing was made up of vibrating strings and that the universe was a symphony. It was a belief I shared, because from being young I was captivated by colours I could see them vibrate the air around them, colour is incredibly beautiful and another note in the universal…[Read more]

Blew my cotton picking mind! I was just thinking about how sophisticated the artists composers and musicians frequently posted here are. Bach , and contemporaries . How their music is so rich and spirited , soulful tuned into something or from something . We now have our proof! Wow.

That was very moving and beautiful.

Hi Joseph, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, comes to mind, vegetable, human, cricket, what a beautiful sound If i down load it and reverse it, will we have a message. We have landed and are very small, stop looking up and start looking down.

There is speculation that there may be some special property in the oil deposits themselves going beyond merely burning it in our crude combustion engines (the ancient “gods” apparently rubbed it on themselves…).
Anyway you might be interested in the work of Heather Lynn.
