It’s best to fill out a support ticket and make Daniel aware of the problem. -

Well, off to bed, but before I do… I did NOT know this: apparently Beethoven published some of his piano sonatas to be played on fortepiane or “cembalo”, that is to say, harpsichord, including some of his most famous… which is news to me… including one of his most famous, which you can hear here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_vLupHd6-I

Ted A: To post this as a question in the short format vidchat, just post it in the comments area after this Saturday when the short format vidchat is posted in the members’ area. If you’re intending it as a question for the longer format vidchats, email it to me via the contact button on the website, and put VIDCHAT QUESTIONS in the subject…[Read more] -

Well I’ve had my finger taped up for a couple of days now, and it seems slowly to be getting better… acid test tomorrow: I’m going to try a small practice session on Bruno to see how it does.

Meanwhile, JSB’s Pedal Exercitium?!

Somebody mentioned turmeric in another post and that was good advice. Powerful anti inflammatory flavones/flavonoids are in blueberries (myricetin) and celery (luteolin) which are cheap this time of year. We need bioavailable silica (OSA) to make collagen for connective tissue repair. Beer has a lot, but I don’t drink alcohol anymore, so I…

Yea I’ve taped it up, and from what I read after you suggested this, is that the symptoms do seem to be the same. Thanks, I appreciate it… no Bruno practice for a spell… 🙁
-
Great. You’re welcome. I and – no doubt – Bruno hope all is back to normal in no time.
-
My experience with this type of injury is to be very careful for at least 1 week. Then once healing takes hold gently exercise the area but not too much. Increasing turmeric also helps. I have slight ‘tennis elbow’ which I never had before…

I seem to have a problem with my right hand little finger on the first joint… for the past few days if I move it a certain way, it feels like something inside has been “stretched”, accompanied by a kind a fiery pain. There also looks like a small bruise or purplish area. Anyone know what this might be?
-
Sorry to hear that, Dr Farrell. Could it be tendonitis? Have you tried taping the little finger to its neighbor and applying an ice pack?

Arnica is good for the joints.
-
… see Trigger Finger Symptoms (stenosing tenosynovitis (stuh-NO-sing ten-o-sin-o-VIE-tis) occurs when inflammation narrows the space within the sheath that surrounds the tendon in the affected finger.) … not fun … have this in my left thumb.
-
I’m curious: Do you get the bruise/purplish part of the symptoms?
-
… when it first occurred, but it resolved and has not returned in 6 months or so.

I think the most obvious possibilities, besides arthritis, have already been mentioned. I’d keep an eye on the bruised/purple part and get medical advice if it persists or worsens. I agree about arnica and ice. Some of the other things I use for pain in fingers/hands when it flares up (arthritis, fibromyalgia, and tendonitis-like pain): pain…

For those wondering about the News and Views about Louie Gohmert’s comments to the Forest Service, I took it down… it proved to be a huge bonfire with some of the commenters.
-
I am shure you had your reasons but now I am curious. Was sleeping when it was posted and missed it but todays bonfires are not about sociable cosiness so one can’t be careful enough!
-
Sorry to hear that Dr Farrell…I did enjoy watching you laugh so much! Laughter being ‘the best medicine’. Hopefully the fires weren’t incendiary 🙂
-
Bonfire of the vanities aside, it did sort of make fun of someone garbling the argument (I feel sorry for gomer’s aide who should have known the swamp rule to never prep a mid weight intellectual for an appearance with nuanced details) but the laughter alone should be preserved.
-
I guess the Texans (like me) got a little miffed that it is always a southerner making an aside when the coastals take him seriously and then laugh at how “stupid we are” with our accents. It’s GomerT…btw, not Pyle. LOL
-
… see Randy Newman’s song Rednecks … given the history (interesting in more than one way) of the song and the crisis of speech see Richard (usually known by his inappropriate first name) Cavett’s interview with Lester Maddox – Gov. of Georgia 1967-1971, a Democrat, who was Lt. Gov. when Jimmy Carter was Gov., not as interesting as one…

And it’s actually GoHmerT. Stupid he is not- he simply does not buy the climate change BS.

Well I am exceedingly disappointed that you chose to remove the video. It is a classic. Folks, I am having problems accessing tomorrow’s vidchat page. Is anyone else having this problem?
-
It works for me. BTW Dr. Farrell; someone mentioned a new Greek lexicon in a recent vidchat. This is I believe what they referred to ( Cambridge University ).
https://www.classics.cam.ac.uk/research/projects/glp-
c’est moi qui l’ai dit
-
Ah, I see. I’ve ordered the new lexicon and look forward to comparing it to the venerable Liddell & Scott that Dr. Farrell ( and probably every Hellenist ) owns. Not that I’m any sort of scholar ( just self-taught amateur ) but ancient Greek has been an interest I’ve pursued for nearly 7 years now. I honestly can’t think of another language…

-
Comes up fine for me. 14 interesting postings…
-
I see the page and comments. No video briefing if you did one.
-
I seem to be getting into the page without any problems
-
No problem accessing the vidchat page, but the video for today’s News and Views isn’t there (“video removed by uploader”). Maybe some weird tech issues going on.

There are some problems here, but I’ll mention only one: the henge, or flytrap. If you pay attention to Tino von Struckman’s presentation (in the members’ area) it is questionable that the henge was a foundation for a cooling tower. -

Folks, they’re predicting strong storms once again this Friday, so please watch for any schedule cancellation.
-
Joseph I keep telling you to move from that weather beaten town, can I suggest a few locations, how about the Sahara desert, great weather but lousy views or some place tropical, eh what about the Galapagos Islands ,lots of things to see, and no tourists, what’s not to like !!

Well Joseph you won’t have to dismantle Bruno ……LOL

Strange coincidence, I am in the Black Hills of SD, and am seeing sideways lightning from a sudden storm that does not strike the ground.
Time to move back to the desert. At least lightning behaves normal there.
-
I’ve seen horizontal lightning a number of times over the mountains in Central Italy.
